Welcome to the cat cafe -- Coffee and Cats!

It's a quiet, well-run cat cafe featuring a half dozen permanent residents and another half dozen adoptable cats. The coffee is good, fresh, and prompt, and the sole employee is ... well... he looks a bit like he should be in a gang with his height, long hair, and goatee. However, he's incredibly gentle, shy, and absolutely wonderful with cats and small children. (Even if he's afraid he will break something.)

Come in, find a seat, and enjoy the atmosphere. Open from 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm every day.

[he is cleaning up around the counter, and lifts his head]

Hm? [coming over, wiping his hands on a towel] What's up?

If I adopt him, do I have to keep his name?

[aceofcrows]

Huh? Oh, no. You can call him anything you want. Sometimes people do keep the names we give them, but a lot of times, they get renamed when they go to their new homes.

[shootykawa]

I promise I won't call him Flufflebutt.

[aceofcrows]

[laughing, and still laughing when an older woman with short, salt and pepper hair comes out of the back room]

"Azumane-kun."

Ah... I-I'm sorry, Owner. Um... [he inclines his head slightly to her and sweeps a hand towards Oikawa] Ah... this is Oikawa Tooru. He's interested in adopting Chester and would like to speak with you about it.

"I see." Her eyes sweep over Oikawa and she nods. "Well, pick him up, Oikawa-san, and let's go to my office. It's quieter in there. Azumane-kun, would you bring some tea back for us?"

O-of course.

[shootykawa]

[Oikawa picks the cat up the way he's seen Asahi do it, but it's still a little clumsy and there is squirming. It takes a bit for Oikawa to figure out a better way as he's following her.]

[He comes back out with the cat after a bit, looking a little dazed. He wasn't expecting to be grilled and he's not sure what to think still.]

[aceofcrows]

[he has a cup of coffee waiting for him when he emerges. he'd been in briefly to bring a pot of tea for them, but otherwise he's been waiting patiently for the last... hour-ish]

Ah... you okay?

[shootykawa]

Yeah, I... think I just adopted a cat.

[He sets Chester down and he trots off to find his mouse and bring it back.]

[aceofcrows]

[pats him on the back]

Ah... congratulations. Do you need to go shopping for supplies?

[shootykawa]

Yes... but I'm not sure what all I need. Can you help?

[aceofcrows]

[he smiles]

Yeah. Owner will have a small starter pack, but it's better to get more supplies quickly. Why don't you sit back down with him, and let it sink it. We can go out after I get off for the afternoon.

[shootykawa]

That sounds good.

[He resumes mouse throwing and petting as necessary. While Oikawa is majorly overwhelmed by this, he still takes the opportunity to watch Asahi work. And Asahi might hear him making some little comments to the cat about him.]

See, he likes all the cats here, but he knows you're special so he will like you more. Like he does with me.

[aceofcrows]

[he'll bring him a handy brochure about the things for new cat owners. there are a few other customers that come in -- they spend as much time cooing over Chester as they do flirting with Oikawa]

[shootykawa]

[Oikawa is more proud of having gotten to Chester first than he is at being flirted with. It's probably causing an uptick of business though, so you're welcome Asahi.]

You ladies should come in here more often, sweet boys like this get taken so quickly you might miss meeting the next one.

[aceofcrows]

[He's kind of glad Oikawa is there to entertain the girls tbh. He's smiling and friendly himself as he deals with the new customers and talks to a few repeat customers.]

[shootykawa]

[This is second nature to Oikawa after having a fangirl harem since probably middle school. He can handle them without much problem, and having a cute sidekick is helping.]

[Oikawa is getting impatient for Asahi to get off work so they can go deal with cat stuff, though.]

[aceofcrows]

[it takes a while before closing time, but eventually he starts cleaning up and carrying the other cafe cats into the back room]

[Chester is curious where they're going and tries to follow into the back room.]

[aceofcrows]

[he won't stop him from following. curious cats are just a thing. after about thirty minutes though, he come back out with Chester under his arm and a cardboard carrier in his other hand.]

I went ahead and fed him for the night. We can use this to carry him safely home.

[shootykawa]

A cat to-go container!

Are you going to come with me and help with things? You can stay over again if you want.

[aceofcrows]

[he chuckles and helps get a not very happy Chester into the container]

I'll come. There's a pet store near your apartment.

[shootykawa]

[He's so eternally grateful.]

Thank you! I need all the help I can get. Sorry Chester... who is probably going to get a new name.

[aceofcrows]

[he hands the box over to Oikawa]

You hold him. I'll get my things and then we can go.

[shootykawa]

[He takes the box and tries to talk to it soothingly.]

It's just for a little while, I promise. We're going to take you home then you can be mad at me and pout like the Ace you remind me of.

[aceofcrows]

[he smiles tenderly as he heads back to get his things. he finally comes out with his street clothes on and locks up the front of the shop.]

We'll hit the pet store first. You'll need a litter box before he gets to roam.
