Welcome to the cat cafe -- Coffee and Cats!

It's a quiet, well-run cat cafe featuring a half dozen permanent residents and another half dozen adoptable cats. The coffee is good, fresh, and prompt, and the sole employee is ... well... he looks a bit like he should be in a gang with his height, long hair, and goatee. However, he's incredibly gentle, shy, and absolutely wonderful with cats and small children. (Even if he's afraid he will break something.)

Come in, find a seat, and enjoy the atmosphere. Open from 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm every day.

Milk isn't good for cats either. They'll drink it if they can, but it's hard on their stomachs.

Really? But... I thought that's what you fed them.

[He's watching a chubby grey cat very closely, like he can read its mind from afar.]

Ah they're carnivores mostly. They eat grass or catnip sometimes, but they prefer meat.

[shootykawa]

[He offers his hand to a cat that's sniffing him curiously.]

Huh, I guess I never thought about it, but that makes sense. They eat mice and bugs and stuff, right?

[aceofcrows]

Mice, bugs, birds, lizards, rodents... they're the best hunters in the world.

[he smiles and leans against the counter watching him]

[He manages to get the cat to let him pat it on the head and he's just delighted by it.]

Ah! They're so soft!

[aceofcrows]

They are. That's Kichiro. He's very friendly. When he gets a little more familiar with you, he'll probably decide to curl up in your lap.

[shootykawa]

Then he will have to come home with me, right? Typically when a boy sits in my lap I take him home.

[aceofcrows]

Ah... you could. He's one of our adoptables, but there's an application you'd need to fill out and there's a home visit and adoption fee.

[shootykawa]

A home visit?

[He's scritching the kitty's head absently, like he's always done this.]

[aceofcrows]

Oh, yes. The owner is very serious about placing the cats here in good homes. She goes to visit the applicants' homes to make sure they will not treat the cats poorly and have a good, clean space for them.

[shootykawa]

The owner does them? You don't do house visits?

[He is not paying attention to the cat, this will not end well for him.]

[aceofcrows]

I haven't been certified for that yet.

[from the twitching of the cat's tail... yeah it won't]

[shootykawa]

You need a certification to visit people?

[And with that the cat has had enough and he swipes at Oikawa's hand.]

Eee! [That was a surprisingly high pitched sound for Oikawa, who draws his hand back in alarm.]

[aceofcrows]

Ah! Are you alright?

[he hurries over and scoops the cat up, depositing it on a cat tree a few feet away]

Did he claw you?

[shootykawa]

Yes. What did I do to him? I was just petting him!

[He's taking this very personally.]

[aceofcrows]

[he sits down with a first aid kit and takes Oikawa's hand. he begins cleaning it gently]

I'm sorry. He's still pretty new, and while he's friendly, he has a short fuse. He wants petting and then he doesn't, and it's hard to tell when that's going to happen.

[shootykawa]

That sounds like someone else I know...

[He's letting Asahi tend to it and playing up how injured he is, trying to get sympathy.]

[aceofcrows]

They have a lot of personality in a small package. He'll probably be back when he's finished with his snit.

[shootykawa]

That also sounds like someone I know. And you hang around them by choice, interesting.

[aceofcrows]

They're fun.

[he chuckles and reaches over to get a laser pointer off the table. he turns it on and wiggles it near Kichiro until he has his attention. the tail flips a few times before he's off chasing the light around the floor]

[shootykawa]

I wonder if that would work on Iwa-chan...

But I can see why you like it now.

[aceofcrows]

Ah... he was your second vice captain right?

[shootykawa]

Yes. He was...

[He doesn't want to talk about that right now, though.]

How many cats are here? And aren't they supposed to be more friendly in a cat cafe? They aren't earning their pay.

[aceofcrows]

We have twelve right now. Most of them are asleep since there's not many customers right now.

[he leans over and begins pointing out sleeping cats hidden around the room. there are five out in the main room right now]

The others are already in the back. We rotate them in and out so they don't get too excited or exhausted.
